Bad Things Happen to Good People

Bad Things Happen to Good People

On our journey as Christians we often come across situations that make us choose to act, to feel or to behave as our human self or as a follower of Christ.
In our lives God constantly gives us the opportunity to put our relationship with Him on a higher level. We humans easily tend to get comfortable in the current set of circumstances. Especially when it all goes well… am I right?

Out of the blue situations can arise that make us choose to TRUST our lives to God even more… or to try to trust our own judgment.
To have FAITH He has everything under control… or to try to take control.
To have the HOPE that He does all things for Good… or hope we can make a better situation for ourselves.
Think of situations like relationship problems, bad habits, losing your job, depression, loss of purpose, financial problems, broken dreams and the list goes on and on and on…

But in every situation God asks you: ‘Do you trust Me? Do you have Faith in Me? Have you put your Hope in Me?’ It’s a challenge every time. And every time a situation arises where you are aware of these questions, it’s a sign that you are at the brink of something new! It is a new and deeper step in our Trust, Faith and Hope in our heavenly Father, in our relationship with God.

In moments like these I try and remind myself of all the times before that I have had to choose my way or His way. I remind myself of the outcome in each of these choices. I remind myself that when I choose God’s way, the answer is usually beyond my scope and much better than anything I could imagine! And nowadays, when such circumstances arise I ask myself, why not choose His way? I realize now that to reach the next level, to reach my purpose I must always overrule myself with His choice. The important thing is this, to be able at any moment to sacrifice what I am for what I could become in Him, in Christ, in a lifestyle where my God is central to all.

Before, I would struggle with God when it came to my will versus His, my logic versus His, my control versus His. Me, myself and I versus God the Father, Son and Spirit. But now, I ask myself why I didn’t trust Him sooner… why was I so stubborn!
But He who created you and I, who loves you and I, who even died for you and I, gives us the choice to TRUST, to have FAITH and to HOPE in all that is God!

Give it a try… and stay focused… and I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Be Blessed,
Mike
